ASHA BHOSLE - "Love Supreme" - TSQCD9050

USA release: 7 March 2006

Grammy nominee Asha Bhosle - the grand dame of Bollywood is one of the most recorded artists in the world. Over the last four decades she has established herself as a major force in the Indian film industry, known as Bollywood. In this new solo album, “Love Supreme”, Asha Bhosle lends her skills at contemporising eight classic “ghazals” (love poems set to music). Many folks view “ghazals” as the blues of Indian music. At the age of 73, she scales new heights on this album, her voice sounding as young as ever. As a gift to her fans, we have included a bonus enhanced cd (at no extra cost), which comprises videos of two songs from this album, and a collection of Ashaji's (as she is respectfully called) favorite duets including duets with her sister, Lata Mangeshkar and her late

husband, R.D. Burman. Ashaji has written her own notes for each of these duets, describing for her fans, why she has chosen each of these evergreen hits.

RAVI SHANKAR - "The Man And His Music" - TSQCD9051

USA release: 21 February 2006

Pandit Ravi Shankar is probably the most successful Indian musician of modern times. His pioneering work over the last five decades has maintained a consistency in quality that few can match. His name is synonymous with that best-known of Indian string instruments - the “sitar”. Ravi Shankar has always had a constantly enquiring mind and an openness that is notable within the sometimes conservative world of Indian classical music. His collaborations spanning musicians as diverse as The Beatles and Yehudi Menuhin are legendary. In this album, from the archives of India's oldest and most respected record companies, Saregama, is a selection of some of Raviji’s (as he is respectfully called)

finest recordings representing two facets of his career: the experimental and the classical.

ANANDA SHANKAR - "A Life In Music" - TSQCD9052

USA release: 21 February 2006

Ananda Shankar, in the words of a critic, “was an original musician of the world before the term world music was invented.” Trained in Indian classical music and subsequently exposed to western trends, he pioneered a distinctive sound, decades ahead of its time: vibrant new age music, capable of breaking barriers between races, cultures and generations. Ananda, unfortunately, passed away in 1999, at the peak of his career. However, Ananda’s creative efforts retain their originality and appeal even today. His music has inspired the “asian underground” movement. His original vinyl recordings have always been in demand, and djs/fans have paid ridiculous amounts of money to acquire them through specialist record outlets. From collector's cult vinyl to the digital bytes of today, Times Square Records

in collaboration with Saregama is proud to present an official release of some of Ananda Shankar's most cherished recordings, including Dancing Drums, Streets of Calcutta etc.
